It’s Fall Y’all, and its all about the colors and textures! Fall brings me so much joy; the cozy sweaters, the late night bon fires, pumpkins, coffee, pie, smores, heavy blankets, a good book in a cozy chair, Halloween. Just thinking about it makes me smile. Let’s fall into how to spruce your home up for fall.
Throw Pillows and Blankets
Swap out your normal throw pillows and blankets for fall ones. This quick swap will leave a big impact, and immediately change your living room and bedrooms into a fall haven. I suggest leaving most of your normal throw pillows on the couch and beds and changing out the middle or main one for a fall pillow. Big heavy knitted blankets in a fall color bring in lots of texture and give a cozy vibe.
Fall Foliage
Add fall foliage everywhere you can! (Maybe not everywhere, but add a lot!) You can pick up vases and foliage for a minimal cost and it WILL have a big impact. Swap out your fake greenery and plants and you’ll instantly feel like you’re in a fall forest. Don’t forget to add a fall wreath on the front door!
The Kitchen Table
Don’t forget the table! Dressing up your kitchen table will make a big impact. Adding a gorgeous fall centerpiece and setting the table with fall pieces will add a dramatic and elegant look to your home. Colors matter, be sure to use creams, browns, reds, and orange hues to set the right tone.
PUMPKINS AND GOURDS
Visit a local pumpkin patch and pick up some pumpkins and gourds. These can be used all around the interior and exterior of your home. Most people set out pumpkins, but adding the gourds will elevate your look for a minimal cost.
THE SMELL
Something often overlooked when decorating for any season or occasion is the smell. Smell invokes feelings and memories. By using fall smells like pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, bonfire, ect. you can enhance the feelings of warmth and comfort in your home. This will make your guests and yourself feel relaxed and in the fall spirit! If you do not like to use candles, and easy way to do this is with cinnamon sticks in mason jars (leave the lid off) .
Happy decorating!
